Service Description

In this group, we hold space for home-educated children to work on topics that interest them. This class is a mix of teacher-guided work where we look at study skills involved in research and producing projects, and child-led learning around their chosen subjects and passions. Being set in the Library means your child can be guided to access books and information on any subject of their choosing while learning valuable research skills along the way. The group aims to foster self-study and independence while being supported as these skills are developed. We employ a democratic method in the learning space – respecting each other's ideas and fostering kind and respectful group learning skills, whilst supporting individual self-esteem and self-confidence. Info: These sessions are run as a bi-weekly, in term blocks. Attending for a term allows the children to get into a flow with learning and work on their developing skills. Individual or taster sessions are available, as is spreading the cost weekly, message us to book this. On the alternate week, we have our Literacy club. 1st floor of Southwater Library, Southwater Square, Southwater Way, Telford TF3 4JG. term time only. Find us in the nook, at the back by the terrace. Bring along any work in progress if there is any, any medium your child is working with such as notebook/paper/laptop. We have spare stationery available if needed. There are plenty of facilities in the library, and nearby for parents to enjoy whilst your child is in the session. Many families stay and play afterward at the Town Park.
